Constructed an orphange in Masembura, Zimbabwe, for 12 children -- orphans who lost their parents due to AIDS.
ZimJourney 2006
Constructed a 300,000 liter water tank on the grounds of the Baptist Conference Center in Gweru, Zimbabwe, to benefit the conference center, the Baptist Theological Seminary of Zimbabwe, Zororo Primary School, and surrounding villages.
Achievements
Provided funds to ship more than 40 mailbags (almost 3000 pounds!) of books to seminaries, primary schools, and high schools in Zimbabwe, Cuba, the Republic of Georgia, and eastern North Carolina.
Provided funds to
collect used and purchase new reference books for the Nursing Schools
at Sanyati Baptist and Bindura General Hospitals in Zimbabwe, and funds
to ship the books and/or send as additional luggage with ecumenical
partners.
Assisted in underwriting
costs for congregational speaking opportunities about the JourneyPartners
its mission partnerships, and the Alliance throughout the year, including
Vacation Bible Schools, civic clubs summer youth camps, Sunday morning
worship, and special mission group gatherings.
Provided hymnbooks
for two churches and a new mission fellowship.
Defrayed personal
outlay for Director’s travel expenses to represent the JourneyPartners
and Alliance partnerships, and develop future mission opportunities.
Assisted in providing
uniforms and school lunch fees for 10 primary school students in Zimbabwe.
Facilitated the
gathering and transfer of donated funds for the construction of a 300,000-liter
water cistern at the Baptist Conference Center in Gweru, Zimbabwe.
Provided more than
700 pounds of equipment and supplies at Sanyati Baptist Hospital.
Facilitated gathering
and transfer of donated start-up printing costs for Four Fragile
Freedoms for the new Alliance of Baptists in Brazil.
Provided support
for four AIDS orphans
Assisted in disaster
reulef for eastern North Carolina in the aftermath of multiple hurricanes.
Assisted in facilitating
and marketing products for the first ecumenical community development
program – a women’s cooperative in Zimbabwe.
Provided scholarships
for 10 internationals to enroll in the on-line Certificate in Baptist
Studies program, offered through the Center for Baptist Studies at Mercer
University.
